VENUE: Country Room, Blue Zone – Yerevan, Armenia
FORMAT: Panel
DESCRIPTION
Nature credits can help channel private capital into nature at scale. This depends on high integrity and on the practical tools buyers and investors need to act with confidence. This panel presents a discussion paper co-authored by IAPB and AXA Climate on how insurance can support high-integrity nature credit markets.
How can insurance help nature credit markets scale with integrity? Join IAPB for the launch of its new discussion paper, co-authored with AXA Climate.
Dame Amelia Fawcett, Co-Chair of IAPB, will introduce and moderate the discussion, with confirmed speakers from AXA, Aviva, Defra and UNEP FI. Together they will explore four key themes:
- the de-risking instruments that already exist or could be adapted from adjacent markets, and the limits of insurance;
- the barriers to building a scalable insurance offer for nature credits;
- the role of public bodies where markets fall short, drawing on lessons from Biodiversity Net Gain;
- how to ensure local actors, Indigenous Peoples and local communities benefit from these solutions.
The session will close with concrete next steps to take the paper’s recommendations forward.
