11 new signatories
On 9 December, 11 more financial institutions joined the Pledge. We celebrated these new signatories during the European Business & Nature Summit (EBNS), organized by the EU Business and Biodiversity Platform of the European Commission and partners. The Pledge now has a total of 37 signatories, with €4.8 trillion assets under management. In the video, CEOs of the Pledge signatory companies commit to making a positive contribution to biodiversity through their activities and investments and encourage other financial institutions to join.
About the Pledge
A group of 26 financial institutions from around the globe launched the Finance for Biodiversity Pledge calling on global leaders and committing to protect and restore biodiversity through their finance activities and investments in the run-up to the Conference of the Parties (COP 15) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in 2021. The Finance for Biodiversity Pledge was launched during the Nature for Life Hub at 25 September 2020 and the Biodiversity Summit of the United Nations General Assembly at 30 September 2020.
