Invitation to participate in Finance for Nature Positive Baseline Survey
The Finance for Nature Positive (FfNP) programme (2026-2029) establishes a collaborative space for financial institutions to develop a Finance for Nature Positive framework and guidance. The programme is led by the Finance for Biodiversity Foundation, in partnership with UNEP FI and WWF, and funded by the #GEF Innovation Window-8.
The programme and framework will help financial institutions identify, assess, and prioritise financing and investment opportunities in both real economy players and countries that have the potential to contribute to the global nature positive goal of halting and reversing biodiversity loss by 2030 by delivering measurable positive outcomes for biodiversity.
Survey Objectives
As part of the project, we are establishing a 2026 baseline to better understand financial institutions’ current appetite for strategies and opportunities that contribute to the nature positive goal, the main barriers they face in scaling up related financing and investment, and current levels and characteristics of capital allocation for positive biodiversity outcomes.
Responses to the survey will form the programme’s baseline. The same assessment will be repeated towards the end of the project to understand how these indicators have evolved over time and whether the project has contributed to increasing financial institutions’ appetite and capital mobilisation towards the nature positive goal, while helping to reduce the barriers identified.
Practical information
- We estimate the survey will take less than 5 minutes to complete.
- As a first round, the survey will run from 21 October 2026 to 21 November 2026.
- All survey responses will be treated as confidential and any data shared as a result of survey responses will be aggregated and anonymised.
- If you have any questions, please reach out to info@financeforbiodiversity.org.
We are inviting and would encourage all financial institutions to take part in the Finance for Nature Positive Survey since the greater the number of responses we receive the more accurate picture we will obtain of the current baseline around finance for nature positive.
