Nature Action Dialogues Event

12 May 2026

Advancing nature measurement for finance

FfB Foundation joined UNEP-WCMC and partners in Cambridge for this year’s Nature Action Dialogues to discuss the future of nature-related measurement and assessment approaches for finance. It was a valuable opportunity to exchange perspectives and learn from peers across finance, business and conservation working to advance nature-positive action.

In our session “Towards a Nature Measurement Protocol: Expectations and Needs from the Finance Sector”, we explored the current barriers and recommendations for conducting consistent and decision-useful nature-related impact and dependency assessments.

A special thank you to Caroline Van Leenders for moderating and to Marco Lambertini and Gavin Edwards from the Nature Positive Initiative and Holly Metcalfe from WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development for joining Julen González Redín and Wijnand Broer to co-lead our session. Thank you also to the wider group of organisations that contributed to the insightful discussions during the session.

It’s encouraging to see the growing momentum and collaboration to advance more harmonised, systematic and decision-useful approaches for nature-related impact and dependency assessments.

This is an important area of work for the finance sector, and one that many of our FfB members are actively engaging with. We look forward to continuing the dialogue and contributing to this evolving work alongside partners and peers across the sector.

About the event

Nature Action Dialogues provides a unique platform to leaders from business, finance and conservation to share collective knowledge and explore solutions to the related environmental planetary crises of biodiversity loss, climate change and pollution. The theme for 2026 explored ‘Countdown to 2030: Aligning Ambition, Scaling Integrated Action’.
