Supporting Financial Institutions in Accessing Biodiversity Data for Informed Decision-Making

The FfB Biodiversity Data Catalogue is an online tool designed to help financial institutions (FIs) navigate the rapidly growing landscape of nature-related data. It improves visibility and accessibility of biodiversity data by connecting users with relevant data providers and tools.

The catalogue is the first of its kind to offer FIs a structured overview of nearly 2,000 nature-related data points from 25 data providers and tool developers, covering both open-access and subscription-based sources. Through a set of close to 30 indicators and filtering options, users can easily identify which providers provide the specific data they need, whether for assessing nature-related risks, analysing dependencies, or evaluating impacts.

Rather than hosting datasets directly, the data catalogue works as a central catalogue, allowing users to identify datapoints and engage with the most relevant data providers to obtain them. It enables users to explore available data, understand its relevance, and connect directly with providers for access or for further information. Data providers maintain and update their own entries, ensuring that information remains current and reliable.

By bringing together a wide range of biodiversity data in one place, the catalogue supports FIs in integrating nature into investment and risk management processes, and in making more informed decisions driven by data.

The Biodiversity Data Catalogue is available to FfB Members and Hub Participants.
