In memory of Leo Murphy

The team at Finance for Biodiversity Foundation was truly saddened to hear of the recent passing of Leo Murphy.

Leo was a valued and active member of the FfB community, joining FfB Foundation at COP16 in Colombia as a knowledgeable and respected panellist and taking on the role of co-chair of our Impact Assessment Working Group. An ecologist and Impact Manager at Climate Asset Management, Leo worked to ensure that private capital directed to nature and climate delivers the positive impact required to achieve net-zero and nature positive.

Through co-chairing FfB Foundation’s Impact Assessment working group, Leo played a key role in helping members understand the variety of methodologies and tools needed to integrate biodiversity considerations into investment decisions.

Bringing extensive experience in environmental management, nature-based solutions, and natural capital, Leo’s science-based understanding of biodiversity impacts and dependencies was integral to this working group’s work on measurement approaches and tools, data development, and best practices.

He will be sorely missed in our community and our thoughts are with his family, friends and all those who worked with him.
