Finance for Biodiversity Foundation has announced AXA, Federated Hermes Limited and Storebrand AM as the organisations supporting the Foundation’s engagement at the upcoming Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) COP17 in Yerevan.
We are grateful for the support of these members which enables the Foundation’s work in Yerevan, bringing together financial institutions, engaging with policy makers and key stakeholders, showcasing progress, strengthening collaboration between public and private finance, and helping to build the conditions needed to accelerate financial action on nature.
As COP17 will mark the first global review of collective progress in the implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), it will be an important moment to assess where we stand and accelerate the action needed to halt and reverse biodiversity loss. For the financial sector, this means accelerating action on nature – integrating nature into financial decision-makingand mobilising finance for nature – so we are calling for policy and regulatory conditions that enable financial system transformation at scale. Global leaders should set clear priorities for GBF implementation that will guide the alignment of financial flows with nature.
During COP17 Finance for Biodiversity will also be collaborating with FAIRR Initiative, by co-hosting a Finance Area in the Blue Zone. This will be a place to bring together financial institutions, policymakers, NGOs and other key stakeholders to exchange perspectives and engage on what is urgently needed to turn the ambitions of the GBF into action. Conversations will cover critical issues connecting finance and nature – from nature-related disclosures, sectoral pathways, supervision and incentives reform to transition planning and nature restoration.
