Good Practice Spotlight: Groupe Caisse des Dépôts – Integrating Biodiversity into ESG Policy

In our latest Member Good Practice Spotlight, we recognise Groupe Caisse des Dépôts for its comprehensive and strategic approach to integrating biodiversity into its ESG policy and operations.

What does meaningful biodiversity integration look like in practice? Groupe Caisse des Dépôts (CDC) offers a strong example. In 2024, it launched a dedicated Nature Policy, bringing together its biodiversity and water strategies to better reflect the interconnected nature of environmental challenges.

Their approach combines:

  • A comprehensive Nature Policy integrating biodiversity and water considerations across operations
  • Clear, forward-looking commitments, including measuring biodiversity impacts and dependencies across its value chain by 2026
  • Ambitious targets such as achieving “net-zero land take” in real estate by 2030
  • Responsible sourcing practices and support for projects that contribute positively to nature

This demonstrates how biodiversity can be embedded across investment, policy, and operational strategies. As an active member of Finance for Biodiversity working groups, CDC contributes to advancing collective action while aligning its own activities with broader sustainability objectives.

By combining strategic commitments, policy integration, and active engagement, CDC demonstrates a structured and forward-looking approach to addressing biodiversity challenges.

A practical example of how FfB Pledge signatories are turning commitments into action.
