Financial institutions(FIs) are looking for ways to assess their impacts on biodiversity and dependencies on ecosystem services via their finance and investment activities. The aim of this guide on biodiversity measurement approaches is to inform FIs and assist them in understanding the methodologies and tools currently in use and under development.
Developed by the Finance for Biodiversity Foundation and the EU Business & Biodiversity Platform, the guide builds on previous editions to support more informed decision-making on measurement.
It presents an overview and more detailed information on a range of measurement approaches, including footprinting tools, sector and company-level assessments, location-specific assessments and other methodologies. The guide aims to support financial institutions in selecting suitable approaches for measuring and managing their impacts, risks, and dependencies on nature.
