Measuring and disclosing impacts from companies’ operations and supply chains, especially across the agriculture, forestry and other land use (AFOLU) sector, is critical to safeguarding nature and fighting climate change. A number of frameworks at the climate-nature nexus are enabling the private sector to do this work: the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) Land and Sector Removals Guidance, the Science Based Targets initiative’s (SBTi) Forest, Land and Agriculture Guidance, the Science Based Targets Network’s (SBTN) science based targets for nature, and the Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosure (TNFD) framework.

Peatlands will be used as a practical example for how these frameworks can be used to account for interrelated climate and nature impacts from complex ecosystems.

The Finance for Biodiversity Foundation will be represented by member Deepshikha Singh, Head of Stewardship and Deputy Head of Sustainable Investment Research at La Française and co-lead of the subgroup on the biodiversity-climate nexus, to present insights gathered by members for an upcoming publication.
