Description

This event will focus on finance for forests, both to fight deforestation and to protect the integrity of their vital ecosystems. Forests are home to 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity and provide the life support systems for hundreds of millions of Indigenous Peoples. Healthy and resilient forests are key in the fight against climate change and can ensure social equality. But they are being lost at an alarming rate.
This event will explore the available levers for actions for financial institutions and corporates. It will present opportunities for funding in circular, tree-free solutions, while also eliminating climate-critical forests from global supply chains. It will present how current methodologies can guide future production and land-use patterns for a sustainable use of biodiversity. It will showcase the activities of leading organisations that demonstrate how finance plays a critical role in ensuring better practices.
Furthermore, the event will also promote concrete projects and mechanisms that can help to mobilise and scale finance for the conservation and restoration of forests, such as biodiversity credits and certifications.
